After three months crisscrossing the country, The Band Solstice closed out their debut album tour at the Radio Room in Greenville, South Carolina. Just one night after a hometown headline show at Knoxville's Mill and Mine. We caught up with lead singer Marty Gee and bassist Maddox Frazier after they walked off stage to talk about life on the road since graduating this past May, why Greenville crowds keep pulling them back, and what's already brewing for album two.
So tell me about the tour, what's it been like these last few months since you graduated?
Marty - Yeah, we've been touring around the US for the last three months and, ever since we graduated in May and it's been insane. It's been so much fun. We have seen things and so many places we never thought we'd visit. Just a lot of memories have been made along the way.
Maddox - We love doing it. Sometimes it gets a little tiring, obviously, but overall, like, this is our dream. We're trying to make it happen, you know? Greenville is super cool, super cool town. We love the Radio Room too.
Marty - Yeah, man it's a lot more exhausting than we thought it would be, definitely, like, traveling around. But each time you step on that stage and, and like you just see people that are, there for your show. It just breathes, like a whole another life into you. You just, give it all you got for however long you're on stage for. It's, a truly incredible feeling I wish, everyone could feel and that's what we try to do. We try to make everyone feel that way while we're playing.
Maddox you spoke a little bit on Greenville, but, like, how do you think Radio Room, the atmosphere and, and the whole show overall went?
Maddox - I mean, the fans here are super, interactive and respectful, and they just, love the music, which is always good. And we're coming off a hometown headline show last night in Knoxville, Tennessee. We played at the Mill and Mine last night and this is a great show to follow it up, honestly. Like, we love it here, and it was super fun. I think it was pretty tight. Everything sounded great on stage. Sound guys were great.
Marty - Yeah, I wanna touch on the, on what he said, like, just how respectful everyone is here. It's, it's rare to find such a respectful crowd. You really feel a connection with the audience when you play here and, Greenville has always given that to us. There's something special about the Radio Room in particular. You know, they are incredible. They've been so welcoming to us and, and they're the ones who make the show great. And shout out to all the staff here tonight, they are incredible.
What's next for you guys?
Marty - Right now, we're working on writing, an album two. We have, a few songs fleshed out and, uh, and, we're, we're playing some shows sporadically across the fall. Still trying to work out if we're gonna go on another tour, this fall or, or if we're gonna spend that time in the studio. We're kinda in a in-between spot right now, trying to decide what we're gonna do, but yeah, that's kinda where we're at.
Maddox - Just writing, recording new stuff.
