There's a moment in every scene’s history when a small idea starts to become something bigger. When a gathering of like-minded people begins to take on a life of its own. For Greenville’s growing EDM (Electronic Dance Music) community, that moment has a name, House Affair. What started as a passion for bringing people together around house music has grown into something with a deeper purpose. Creating a space built around the music, the culture, and the community surrounding it.
In a scene where “house music” can mean everything from massive festival stages to late-night underground sets, House Affair has found its own lane. It’s rooted in the classic, funky, and soulful side of house while still being welcoming to anyone who wants to come out, dance, and enjoy the music. At the end of the day, it’s pretty simple: real house music, good people, and a dance floor open to anyone willing to move. A love affair with house music, one night at a time.
Brightbell Music sat down with House Affair founders Alex Corven and Zoltan to talk about where the idea began, how their party has evolved, and what sets it apart in Greenville’s nightlife scene.
So tell me, what is House Affair and the overall intention of hosting these events around Greenville?
Alex Corven - So House Affair is a movement, um, based on the house music, um, that we create from me and Zoltan. Uh, I'm from Mexico City and he's from Hungary. So the intention of this is to build a community, uh, for pure house music, you know? House music, is evolving all the time, but we are very on the roots of house, yeah? Classic, funky, jacking, deep, all the house spectrum, yeah? So that's, uh, mainly House Affair.

How do you think House Affair currently intertwines with the current Greenville music scene, music culture?
Alex Corven - I mean, it's been, uh, quite hard. Uh, we've been doing these events or all the movement since almost four years. We start as La Loca. So La Loca, it was our first brand, and then we try to evolve, you know? We start like an underground scene, more like a house, a house techno. But then we discover that there is a community that like to come dance, vibe, and this energy to keep going.

Would you consider House Affair mainstream as far as the current culture surround house music?
Zoltan - So House of Fair is not mainstream, it's not underground, it's in the middle. You know, we try to draw the people that are not into electronic music, so this will be their first event, you know.

How does House Affair interact with the current music culture or the music scene here in Greenville?
Zoltan - Here in Greenville, I think there is a, a lack of, like, this kind of house music, it's a little bit more to the underground side. There's a lot of commercial, a lot of mainstream house, but nothing like this one. A little bit more groovy, more back to the roots of house music.
